The Church of the Madonna della Tempa, as we know it today, was built recently, in 1964, just outside the historic city center. The church’s name derives from the hill on which the chapel was built following numerous apparitions of the Madonna, who came to the aid of the people of San Rufolo.
Over time, the chapel, which later became a church, has been rebuilt several times, and from the original structure it has retained the long external staircase leading to the portico. Also of particular interest is a beautiful iconography of the Madonna on the main façade.

The trail offers breathtaking views of the Vallo di Diano and allows visitors to explore the area's ecclesiastical cultural heritage, beginning with the early Christian Baptistery of San Giovanni in Fonte.
