The Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Colomba enjoys a panoramic position overlooking the center of Atena Lucana.
The building, with a regular plan, is well preserved and consists of an internal courtyard, a series of rooms, and a sacred hall containing magnificent 18th-century frescoes attributed to Anselmo Palmieri.
This hall also houses a polychrome marble altar with a statue of the Madonna della Colomba and a polychrome wooden sculpture. Also noteworthy are the frescoes depicting stories of the Virgin, also created by Anselmo Palmieri.
